Samuele
Ceccarelli

Born in Massa on 9 January 2000, Ceccarelli approached running in school competitions, then moved to Atletica Alta Toscana and later to Atletica Firenze Marathon. He graduated from the linguistic high school and studied law in Pisa, following in his father's footsteps as a lawyer. His career was marked by some physical problems that slowed him down in 2019 and 2021, when he suffered two stress fractures in his fibulae. But he never gave up and continued to work with determination and passion.

In 2022 he began to show his talent, setting the best national promising performance in the 50 metres indoor with 5"81 in Parma. In 2023 came the quantum leap: 6.61 in the 60 indoors at his season debut (an eleven-hundredths improvement), then 6.58 up to 6.54 to win at the Absolute Championships ahead of Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs and become the third Italian ever. Ceccarelli proved to be a complete athlete, capable of starting off strong and maintaining his speed to the finish line. He also showed great personality, not intimidated by the challenge with Jacobs and the pressure of competition.

Ceccarelli is the new star of Italian and world athletics. His dream is to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and emulate his idol Usain Bolt. For now, he is enjoying his European triumph and preparing for the outdoor season, where he will try to lower his personal best in the 100 metres (10"45) and win more successes with the Italian jersey.

At the 2023 Golden Gala at the Ridolfi stadium in Florence, in the 100 meters Samuele smashed his previous personal best of 10"45 with a time of 10"13.
